") announced today that they will expand AirTouch Cellular's deployment of the Blackbird(R) Platform and PreTect(tm) cellular cloning fraud prevention system into the Sacramento market during the first quarter of 1998.

As part of the expansion, AirTouch will further prevent fraud in Sacramento by participating in CTS's No Clone ZoneSM service which links more than 40 major markets in North America for real-time roaming fraud prevention.

"With the Blackbird system, carriers like AirTouch gain protection from the disruption, time and cost of cloning fraud in both home and roaming markets," CTS president Bill Zollner said.

As a leader in fighting fraud, AirTouch is already using the Blackbird system in many of its major markets, including Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles and San Diego. "AirTouch has experienced about a 75-95 percent drop in home cloning in markets where Blackbird radio frequency fingerprinting has been established," said Jim Arnaout, Managing Director - Fraud Prevention at AirTouch Cellular. "We attribute much of this improvement to the Blackbird system and are looking forward to a high level of protection in our Sacramento market."
