AirTouch Cellular Ranks Best in Greater Los Angeles in J.D. Power and Associates Study of Overall Customer Satisfaction; AirTouch Earns Highest Ranking for Sixth Year in a Row.


IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 1998--J.D. Power and Associates Tuesday released the results of its annual Wireless Customer Satisfaction Study and ranked AirTouch Cellular highest in Overall Customer Satisfaction in the Greater Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  market. The Greater Los Angeles market includes Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino San Bernardino, city, United States

J.D. Power and Associates, an international marketing information firm, surveyed customers from wireless carriers who have significant market share in the Los Angeles area. Carriers with a household share of 10 percent or more were included in the final, official rankings.

Since 1992, J.D. Power and Associates has been conducting studies to measure customers' opinions about the wireless service providers. AirTouch has consistently emerged as the clear winner in the Greater Los Angeles market with the highest overall customer satisfaction among cellular telephone users for six consecutive years.

The J.D. Power and Associates 1998 Wireless Customer Satisfaction Study is based on completed interviews with more than 10,000 wireless subscribers in 22 of the top wireless markets. Consumers evaluated their current wireless provider on a total of 49 attributes that were grouped into nine major factors. The importance to overall customer satisfaction is indicated below:
