AirTouch Cellular Donates More Than $150,000 to Charitable Organizations.

Launched in February of 1998, AirTouch Connections has donated more than $150,000 to support 240 charitable organizations throughout AirTouch's Western Region.

"A big part of the energy and enthusiasm behind AirTouch Connections comes from our employees and their volunteer work," said Joe Dodson, vice president and general manager for AirTouch Cellular's Northwest Area. "AirTouch employees are so willing to give their time to support many worthy causes in the community," Dodson added, "AirTouch is please to reinforce those efforts with financial support to the organizations in which they are involved."

The Employee Volunteers component of the program offers modest cash donations to eligible non-profit organizations for which employees actively volunteer. So far this year, 144 organizations have benefited from employee grants.

The Community Partners component of AirTouch Connections provides opportunities for non-profit organizations to request donations of cash, auction items, event sponsorships, and in-kind donations such as surplus computers and office equipment.

In 1998, AirTouch Connections has given Community Partner cash donations to 97 organizations throughout its region. In addition to cash donations, more than 50 cellular phones have been donated to support charitable auctions and fundraisers.
