Today the Mormon Trail is a part of the United States National Trails System, as the Wagon Train 150 Years, Inc. coordinators of the historic event. The donation is valued at more than $5,000. The phones are being used to maintain contact between the wagon train and the support vehicles that are accompanying these modern day pioneers. Daily progress reports are sent using the modems to those not participating in the exodus, including reports to the media.
