Large Operator Purchases AirNet Base Station System with Latest

Triple Capacity Digital AirSite Technology

AirNet Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:ANCC), the technology leader in base station products for wireless communications, today announced a large international telecommunications firm has purchased an AirNet(R) base station system and commercially deployed it in its GSM network in Asia. This telecommunications firm has a customer base approaching 1.5 million subscribers. This initial GSM system, purchased after the successful completion of an extensive trial using it, consists of an AdaptaCell(R) broadband, software-defined base station, multiple Triple Capacity Digital AirSite(R) Backhaul Free(TM) base stations and associated equipment amounting to approximately US$500,000.

Amazingly, we were able to install, commission and receive final acceptance in one day from our valued customer. Recently introduced to the market, the Triple Capacity Digital AirSite Backhaul Free base station, known as the "TripCap," is AirNet's latest generation of the original AirSite that won the coveted award for best technical innovation from the GSM association. In addition to supporting GPRS and EDGE Services, the TripCap is compact, easy to install, and capable of being configured and managed from any remote operations center. This small, lightweight, compact base station providing three times the capacity of the original version is the perfect solution for rapid expansion in the most difficult geographic service areas.

This deployment represents interconnection with our seventh different MSC vendor, further demonstrating that our AirNet product solutions easily `bolt-on' to an incumbent suppliers' network. This multi-vendor "plug-and-play" aspect of the AirNet solution allows operators to easily expand their network's coverage area without having to modify their existing Network Switching System. Even more importantly, it will allow existing operators who have run out of alternatives for expanding their capacity to turn to AirNet for its Super Capacity(TM) solution by "bolting-on" to their existing network without having to deploy additional expensive cell sites.
