Demonstrations of high-bandwidth applications beamed over the air via near-infrared light will run continuously throughout the show, allowing thousands of SUPERCOMM 2000 attendees to witness the future of the last mile network.

OptiMesh is a wireless optical network that provides high-bandwidth access to urban buildings much like a fiber-optic network. The networking equipment wirelessly connects buildings with no direct fiber access to existing fiber access points in nearby "on-net" buildings at speeds of up to 622 Mbps, allowing carriers the ability to provide reliable high-bandwidth access at a fraction of the cost and time required to install fiber access.
