AirClic. Inc announced today its acquisition of Sunnyvale, CA-based WuliWeb Inc. WuliWeb markets a Web-based application to publishers that enables magazine and newspaper readers to use everyday devices, including mobile devices, to instantly save articles and advertisements of interest and share these with others electronically via the Internet.

Each WuliWeb-enabled publication will include AirClic's proprietary bar code, the Scanlet(TM), in a variety of articles and advertisements throughout the magazine or newspaper. By simply entering the numbers associated with the Scanlet(TM) into virtually any mobile phone, PDA or personal computer keyboard, readers and subscribers can automatically retrieve electronic versions of articles corresponding to these codes. These can then be intelligently organized into a personal library so the reader can easily reference the material, or send the material instantly to a friend or colleague via e-mail with an accompanying note if desired. The result is that readers can save or send any information they read in print from virtually anywhere. For example, through WuliWeb, a user can save a magazine article about a travel destination for future reference, share a news article with business colleagues, and save an advertisement for a product that he or she plans to buy, to name just a few possibilities.
