Air2Web Acquires Global Wireless Software and Service Provider 2Roam.

Air2Web, the leading wireless platform provider, announced the closing of its acquisition of 2Roam, a leading global wireless software and service provider.

Under the terms of the agreement, Air2Web acquired 2Roam's Wireless Solution(TM), its customer base including marquee customers such as eBay, Best Western International, and Hoover's, Inc., and retained its co-founder and Board Chairman Bryan Wargo. Wargo has joined Air2Web as its Vice President of Strategic Accounts. 2Roam shareholders Lightspeed Venture Partners, @Ventures, the affiliated venture capital arm of CMGI, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMGI), and Siemens Venture Capital will become shareholders of Air2Web as a result of the transaction.

eBay (Nasdaq:EBAY - news), the world's online marketplace(TM), has been using 2Roam's solution for two years to enable customers in six countries around the world to wirelessly access eBay and conduct transactions from Internet-enabled mobile devices across multiple carrier networks. Now, via the Air2Web/2Roam platform, eBay customers will also have the ability to reach all digital devices, including cell phones, personal device assistant (PDAs), and pagers.

Best Western International, Inc., the world's largest hotel brand with more than 4,000 properties in over 80 countries, has been using 2Roam to bring its Web site content and functionality to wireless users. Hoover's, Inc., a leading provider of online business information and tools to help businesspeople get their jobs done, launched its Hoover's Wireless service with 2Roam last year. Wireless device users are able to search Hoover's proprietary information using company name or ticker symbol to find company descriptions, office locations, financial statement information, top officers, competitors, stock quotes and news from Hoover's Online. Users of Hoover's Wireless can access information on more than 17,000 public and private enterprises worldwide.
