Air navigation radar installation and maintenance contract.

The Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General and President of the Board of Civil Aviation Authority, Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz A'al Saud has signed a contract for implementation of civil aviation navigation radar system with the Raytheon International Co. of USA.

The cost of the contract is SR 222 illion.

The contract would be implemented ithin a period of 36 months from the ate of its signing. It includes anufacturing, installation and testing of 21 units air navigation control ystems according to the latest nternational specifications in this field.

The systems would be installed and istributed over different locations in he Kingdom in such a manner that it would cover the whole air space of the ingdom up to a height of 15,000 feet nd above. The system would provide complete control of air space to the ontroller covering the whole air space nd would enable him to determine the least possible distance between two airliners.

With the installation of the new ystem, the airlines flights coming rom or going to Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and far east would have to ravel in Saudi Arabian air space for ess time and in this way save time and uel.

The contracting company would rovide training to Saudi engineers nd technicians and would also rovide technical support and maintenance services for a period of 5 years.
