Air laser given C for sea.

Lockheed Martin's airborne laser mine detection system that is currently undergoing development for the US Navy has reached Milestone C, which signals the end of the system development and demonstration phase and its readiness to begin initial production. The system uses light-detection and ranging technology to detect floating and near-surface moored sea mines. The system is contained in external equipment pods mounted on a US Navy MH-60S helicopter and will support the mine warfare mission module onboard the US Navy's Littoral Combat Ship (illustration).
