Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation Orders 75 CRJ200 Regional Jets; Company Amends Marketing Agreement With United Airlines To Allow Aircraft Order and Extend Until 2011.

Air Wisconsin Air Wisconsin is an airline based in Appleton, Wisconsin, USA. Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation, or AWAC, is the largest privately held regional and commuter airline which operates regional jet flights as US Airways Express under contract to US Airways, serving around 70  Airlines Corporation ("AWAC") today announced that it has reached agreement with Bombardier Aerospace for the acquisition of up to 150 CRJ CRJ Canadair Regional Jet

200 aircraft including 75 orders (51 firm and 24 conditional) plus 75 options. The order is valued at $1.68 billion, excluding options, and could push the regional carrier to over 100 aircraft by 2004.

Additionally, AWAC announced that it has amended its marketing agreement with its major airline partner, United Airlines, allowing the regional jets to be flown in the United Express regional feed system. The revised agreement results in an agreement similar in structure to the agreement that United has with its two other primary United Express regional carriers, Atlantic Coast Airlines Atlantic Coast Airlines (IATA: DH, ICAO: BLR, and Callsign: Blue Ridge) was an airline based in the United States owned by Atlantic Coast Holdings, Inc.. It operated as United Express for United Airlines and Delta Connection for Delta Air Lines.  and SkyWest Airlines.

The aircraft are to be used to feed United's hubs at Denver and Chicago. The deliveries will begin in October of this year and the first 51 will be delivered by December of 2003. The conditional orders, which could be firmed up later this year, would be delivered in 2004.

AWAC currently operates 9 of the 50 seat CRJ200 aircraft. In addition to the CRJ, AWAC operates 18 86-100 seat British Aerospace 146 aircraft and 23 Dornier 328 high-speed turboprop turboprop: see turbine.
