Air Transport World Magazine honors Continental Airlines as 'Airline of the Year'.WASHINGTON, D.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 1997--Air Transport World Magazine, the leading monthly magazine for airline executives and professionals, named Continental Airlines its 1996 Airline of the Year in its 23rd Annual Airline Industry Achievement Awards program. Bethune (born August 1941) is the chairman of the board of Aloha Airgroup, parent company of Aloha Airlines. He was CEO of Continental Airlines from 1994 until his retirement at the end of 2004. From 1996 on, he also served as chairman of the board at that airline. and his executive team with creating a positive attitude and noted that Continental's employees had responded with enthusiasm and pride in their airline.
