Air Tahiti Nui to Join Northwest Airlines' Worldperks Program May 1.

Air Tahiti Tahiti (tähē`tē), island (2002 pop. 169.674), South Pacific, in the Windward group of the Society Islands, French Polynesia. The capital is Papeete. Tahiti is the largest (402 sq mi/1,041 sq km) and most important of the French Pacific islands. Nui (1) (Network User Interface) A user interface for a computer attached to the network. The NUI is designed to work with remote applications and files as easily as local files.

(2) (Notebook User Interface) A term coined by Go Corporation for its PenPoint pen-based interface.

, the international flag carrier of Tahiti and her islands, announced today that it will become a partner in Northwest Airlines' Worldperks Program effective May 1.

This positive development will allow Worldperks members to use their banked miles for air travel on Air Tahiti Nui flights between Los Angeles and Papeete Papeete (päpā-ā`tā), town (2002 pop. 26,181), capital of Tahiti and of French Polynesia, South Pacific. A port on the NW coast of Tahiti, Papeete ships copra, vanilla, and mother-of-pearl. The town has an important French nuclear laboratory and an international airport., Los Angeles and Auckland Auckland (ôk`lənd), city (1996 pop. 345,768; urban agglomeration pop. 991,796), N North Island, New Zealand. It is situated on an isthmus and is the largest urban region and chief port of the country. The chief exports are frozen meats, dairy products, wool, hides, and iron and steel., as well as flights from and to Papeete and Auckland from Tokyo and Osaka.

Sumner noted that Air Tahiti Nui's global reach now includes partnership through code-share arrangements with Air France, Japan Air Lines, QANTAS Airways and through mileage redemption in the frequent traveler programs of American Airlines and Northwest Airlines.

Air Tahiti Nui also offers its own loyalty program named "Club Tiare" for the fragrant national flower of Tahiti. Members I "Club Tiare" accrue points and then redeem them for free travel on Air Tahiti Nui, for class of service upgrades or for excess baggage allowance coupons. A unique feature of this program permits family members to pool their points, thus achieving benefit status in an accelerated manner.

Boasting an all Airbus-340-300 fleet, Air Tahiti Nui flies 12 times per week from Los Angeles to Papeete and 3 times weekly from Los Angeles to Auckland, with connecting service to Sydney. In addition, the carrier serves Paris 5 times weekly nonstop from Los Angeles. All flights feature 3 classes of service and friendly Polynesian hospitality.
