This new service, operating across the international dateline, will commence operations from Papeete on Tuesday, April 4, 2000, departing at 7:40 a.m. local time and will arrive nonstop at Osaka's Kansai Airport on Wednesday, April 5 at 3:00 p.m. local time. The departure from Osaka will be Wednesday, April 5 at 4:55 p.m. arriving in Papeete at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, local Tahiti time. The service will continue to operate on a once per week basis thereafter, every Tuesday and Wednesday. The new Osaka flight will be in addition to the very successful service presently being operated between Papeete and Tokyo by Air Tahiti Nui. Levy stated that the Osaka service is being inaugurated in response to the very strong demand from Japanese consumers for the destination of Tahiti and her islands. He stated that Air Tahiti Nui has had great success with its once per week service between Papeete and Tokyo and that there was a compelling need to add a second service to Japan. Levy is particularly pleased to be able to offer this new service as a convenience to passengers in the western Japan area served by Kansai Airport. Air Tahiti Nui will operate state of the art A340-200 equipment featuring its renowned "Moana Class" coach service and "Club Poerava" business class.
