Blueair, Inc.'s Swedish-designed air purifier An air purifier is a device which removes contaminants from air. Whilst marketed as being of particularly beneficit to allergy sufferers and asthmatics and to reduce second-hand tobacco smoke.  has a clean air delivery rate, high energy efficiency and quiet operation. Manufactured in Sweden, the Blueair Model AV501 air purifier uses patented HEPASilent [TM] technology that provides a high level of filtration at low pressure for extra air purification and less noise.

The Blueair Model AV501's noise level ranges from 30 bd to 38 bd--depending on the airflow rate selected--or about the same noise level as a desktop computer. The unit is also highly energy efficient, using from 14 to 70 watts of power, which is no more than a common light bulb bulb, thickened, fleshy plant bud, usually formed under the surface of the soil, which carries the plant over from one blooming season to another. It may have many fleshy layers (as in the onion and hyacinth) or thin dry scales (as in some lilies)—both of which .

The Blueair unit's environmental filters are made of nontoxic, hydrophobic hydrophobic /hy·dro·pho·bic/ (-fo´bik)
