Air New Zealand announces new special airfares for flights from Los Angeles to New Zealand. Depending on time of year, tickets start at $998 and $1,198.

For travel between Jan. 8 and Feb. 29, which is summer in New Zealand, fares start at $1,198 and include a free island stopover on the southbound journey to New Zealand. For travel between March 1 and May 31, which is autumn in New Zealand, fares start at $998 roundtrip and do not include the island stopover.

For the stopovers permitted on the southbound flights with the $1,198 fare, travel may be booked for Fiji, Tahiti, the Cook Islands, Samoa or Tonga, depending on availability and day of week for travel.
