Ansett Australia or Ansett was a major Australian domestic and international airline, flying passengers around Australia and to destinations in Asia at its height in 1996.
 Group has announced the appointment of Gary Toomey as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Toomey joins Air New Zealand after working for seven years with Qantas Airways Limited Qantas Airways Limited

Australian airline, the oldest in the English-speaking world, founded in 1920 as Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd. (later abbreviated as Qantas). By 2002 it had more than 140 destinations in over 30 countries.
. Prior to his appointment, Toomey served as Qantas' Deputy Chief Executive and Executive Director as well as director of various Qantas subsidiary companies and Air Pacific Limited.

Toomey will begin his responsibilities with the Air New Zealand - Ansett Australia Group in December.
