Air Movement in Factories.

Developments in engineering science can help companies to meet the demands for ever-increasing standards of hygiene hygiene, science of preserving and promoting the health of both the individual and the community. It has many aspects: personal hygiene (proper living habits, cleanliness of body and clothing, healthful diet, a balanced regimen of rest and exercise); domestic hygiene  in High Care processing areas.

The Silsoe Research Institute, tel:0152 586 0000, have been working together with Campden and Chorleywood Food Research Association for some years and are now able to offer a practical service to minimize the risk of airborne airborne /air·borne/ (ar´born) suspended in, transported by, or spread by air.
airborne,
adj carried through the air. In health care settings, viruses or bacteria may become airborne, e.g.
 contamination.

This service works by identifying the detailed movements of air within the processing environment, the potential sources of airborne contamination and the subsequent risk to product integrity. Air handling systems in High Care areas are designed to deliver sufficient clean air to ensure the correct temperature and provide air of a specified cleanliness Cleanliness

One of the advantages of this service is that it can be used to identify and eliminate potential problems in 'new build' operations, as well as in existing and expanding ones. Assistance in factory design is achieved, using a tried and tested model of air-flows and particle particle /par·ti·cle/ (pahr´ti-k'l) a tiny mass of material.
