Air Liquide's NEPAL Nepal (nəpôl`), officially Kingdom of Nepal, independent kingdom (2005 est. pop. 27,677,000), c.54,000 sq mi (139,860 sq km), central Asia.  project, selected for the award from a field of more than 20 competing entries, has enjoyed growing success among Air Liquide employees and suppliers since its pilot in January 2001. NEPAL is a user-friendly e-procurement tool, directly accessible from the Air Liquide Group Intranet, which does not require any specific IT expertise. More than 10,000 transactions have taken place since the launch of the application.

The NEPAL on-line catalogue includes over 350,000 products manufactured by more than 60 suppliers. The system is up-and-running in 15 Air Liquide sites in four countries (France, Germany, Japan and the USA). Based on Commerce One e-procurement technology, which operates in conjunction with pre-installed Air Liquide information systems, NEPAL has been successfully integrated into the Oracle and SAP ERP The SAP ERP application is an integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) software manufactured by SAP AG that targets business software requirements of midsize and large organizations in all industries and sectors. It allows Air Liquide to save time and money by helping Air Liquide to create a more efficient supply chain, ensure quick follow-up and improve negotiation with accredited accredited
