ALARC-JET is a recently designed nozzle that delivers an optimized supersonic oxygen jet onto the liquid metal bath to refine steel. The technology does not use flame shrouding. ALARC-JET has been successfully commissioned on electric arc furnaces (EAF EAF - Effort Adjustment Factor ) worldwide and is part of the portfolio of technologies developed and commissioned by American Combustion, a division of Air Liquide America. American Combustion and U. S. Steel personnel, including a BOF expert from France, will jointly conduct the six-month trial. The teams will quantify metallurgical improvement as well as technical and economic benefits. Said P.E.
