Air Jamaica Announces Flight Cancellations for Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 Due to Hurricane Ivan; Ticket-change Restrictions Further Relaxed.MIAMI -- Air Jamaica Jamaica (jəmā`kə), independent state within the Commonwealth (2005 est. pop. 2,732,000), 4,232 sq mi (10,962 sq km), coextensive with the island of Jamaica, West Indies, S of Cuba and W of Haiti. The capital and largest city is Kingston. has cancelled its full flight schedule for tomorrow, Saturday September 11, 2004 as a result of Hurricane Ivan. This includes all service into and out of Jamaica, all inter-island service, as well as all flights to the 11 remaining Caribbean destinations served by the carrier. Air Jamaica has also further relaxed its ticket-change restrictions, allowing passengers booked for travel beginning between now and September 15, 2004 to change their itineraries without penalty. The previous cut-off date was September 13, 2004. Air Jamaica will issue travel vouchers equal to the total value of the original booking for flights to any Air Jamaica destination. Vouchers may be redeemed for travel to be completed up to one (1) year from the date the voucher is issued. Passengers have 21 days from the original date of travel to request vouchers. Passengers are advised to keep a record of their locator codes to facilitate the processing of changes. Air Jamaica operates more than 400 weekly flights to 12 Caribbean destinations from 15 U.S. gateways.
