Air Force Print News (Dec. 20, 2006): Air Force official names environmental winners.WASHINGTON -- The Air Force civil engineer announced the winners of the Gen. Thomas D. White General Thomas Dresser White (1902–December 22, 1965) was the fourth Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force. White was born in Walker, Minnesota, in 1902. Environmental Awards for 2006. Maj. Gen. Del Eulberg named nine installations and one individual as winners of this year's awards. The 2006 winners are: * Environmental Quality Award (industrial): Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. * Environmental Quality Award (reserve component including Air National Guard): Bangor International Airport Bangor International Airport (IATA: BGR, ICAO: KBGR) is a public airport located 3 miles (5 km) west in the city of Bangor, in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. It is owned and operated by the City of Bangor and was formerly Dow Air Force Base. * Environmental Quality Award (overseas): Misawa Air Base Misawa Air Base (三沢飛行場 Misawa Hikōjō , Japan * Restoration Award (installation): Dover AFB AFB abbr. acid-fast bacillus AFB Acid-fast bacillus, also 1. O'Donnell, Hickam AFB, Hawaii A ceremony and reception to honor the Air Force winners will take place at the Pentagon on April 19. The winners are eligible for the Secretary of Defense environmental awards and will go forward as the Air Force nominees. The Air Force captured three of nine Secretary of Defense environmental awards in 2005. |
