One of the largest airport installations in the world, it is the air force's main research and development base, and the headquarters of the , Dayton, Ohio. "The Robbins-Gioia team is pleased the Air Force selected us to be a key member of its major Enterprise Resource Planning See ERP. (application, business) Enterprise Resource Planning - (ERP) Any software system designed to support and automate the business processes of medium and large businesses. (ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) An integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise. Evolving out of the manufacturing industry, ERP implies the use of packaged software rather than proprietary software written by or for one customer. ) program office," said Kelly Kooser, Dayton-based vice president of business development for Robbins-Gioia's defense division. "We look forward to providing quality program and financial management, enterprise resource planning, and acquisition support that will lead to the successful implementation of ECSS." Replacing more than 500 systems when it is fully implemented over the next several years, ECSS will consist of a single Air Force-wide suite of Web-based computer applications. The system will integrate logistics functions such as supply, maintenance, repair, distribution, and procurement with related business functions such as budgeting and financial and personnel management. The benefit of ECSS to the Air Force is that, upon its full implementation, all logistics personnel will have access to the same pool of information. Numerous systems currently used by the Air Force do not necessarily contain the same information; nor do all of them "talk" to each other. This lack of integration has the potential to create problems that directly impact Air Force personnel in carrying out their missions. The winning team includes Robbins-Gioia, LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.
