BIRMINGHAM'S newest professional theatre company is set to put the 'pint' into Harold Pinter.

Fresh from breaking even with their production of The Homecoming at The Crescent last month, the energised members of Friction Theatre are bubbling over at the prospect of moving onwards and upwards.

Broken legs notwithstanding on their climb up the mighty showbusiness mountain, Friction's next ambitious step is to take two more Pinter works upstairs.

Husband and wife team Chara Jackson (Sarah) and James Allan (Richard) will star as a married couple in The Lovers, which will be playing back to back as a double bill with Landscape at the Old Joint Stock, off Colmore Row, from December 11-13.

Since this little gem of a theatre is above the pub of the same name, those of us with an ear for a turn of phrase will hope to be served before curtain up by a barman called William.

Then we can literally say: 'A pinter yer two best beers at the double, Bill'. Boom boom!
