Aiming to play a huge role.

Last week we reiterated our main objectives derived from affiliation to Supporters Direct and the Football Supporters Federation.

Supporters Direct is the Government-funded initiative whose aim is to help people "who wish to play a responsible part in the life of the (football) club they support."

This has resulted in the following achievements:

* Over 120 Supporters' Trusts across England, Wales and Scotland.

* 61 Supporters' Trusts hold equity within their football clubs.

* 39 Football clubs have supporter representation within the boards of their football clubs.

* Supporters' ownership or control at four football league clubs (Brentford, Chesterfield, Rushden & Diamonds and Stockport County).

* Supporters' ownership at eight non-League clubs (York City, Exeter City, AFC Wimbledon, AFC Telford, Newport (IOW), Enfield Town, FC United of Manchester and Clydebank).

As we reported recently, the prediction is that the majority of football clubs in this country will be Trust-owned by 2020.

This Trust hopes to be ready to play its part when the time comes.

It's worth noting as well that Supporters Trusts are not limited to football clubs.

There is an increasing number of Trusts in other codes, most notably Rugby League - the nearest example being Halifax, where there are Trusts for both the football and rugby league clubs.
