NORTHUMBERLAND Charolais breeder Ian Campbell Ian Campbell is a name shared by several people:
  • Ian Campbell (apothecary), a former officer of the British Medical Household
  • Ian Campbell (artist), an English musician
  • Ian Campbell (Australian politician) (born 1959), an Australian politician
 has been elected to the breed society's council of management.

Mr Campbell, who is based at Thurnton near Alnwick, is a former chairman of the Scottish and North-erCharolais Breeders, and has been breeding the cattle for 35 years with his father, Colin, and brother, John.

The family's Thrunton pedigree herd is now the biggest in the North East at 380 head and Charolais from it have taken the Perth supreme cham-pionshion five occasions.

Mr Campbell said: "Over the years, we've focused on the same set of simple objectives - to breed high-quality bulls for the commercial sector that leave progeny which are easy to calve calve
