Aiming to beat a new record.


MUSICIANS are drumming up support for a world record beating attempt to be held in Birmingham in July.

Don Powell, from Seventies glam rock group Slade, was joined by Jason Bould, from Pitchshifter, Steve Grantley, from Stiff Little Fingers, Carlos Hercules, from Berverly Knight's band and Mark Decloedt, from EMF emf: see electromotive force.

The musicians hope to attract 600 drummers This is a list of drummers, mostly in the fields of metal, rock, and jazz.

  • Josh Abbott (My Red Hot Nightmare, Ace Troubleshooter)
  • Vinnie Paul Abbott (Pantera)
  • Dave Abbruzzese (Pearl Jam)
  • Alex Acuña (Weather Report)
 in total to drum to one beat under one roof at the city's National Indoor Arena.

And while they pound away on their instruments to beat the world record, they also hope to raise cash for the MS Society.

The current record is 533 drummers and their drum kits all playing to the same beat, set three years ago in the US.

"Money raised from Stick it to MS will be donated to the MS Society to invest in vital research into the cause, cure and symptoms of this unpredicatable condition and to provide essential support and information which will make a real difference to people's lives."
