Aileen Carroll increases funds to U.N. population program.

, the Canadian International Development Agency The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is a Canadian government agency which administers foreign aid programs in developing countries. CIDA operates in partnership with other Canadian organizations in the public and private sectors as well as other , announced an almost 40 per cent increase in our contribution to the U. N. Population Fund from $13.1 million annually to $67.4 million over four years. The U.S. has refused to support the fund for the last three years because it encourages forced abortions and sterilizations in China. About $9 million of Canada's contribution will be directed to a fund for birth control supplies such as condoms.
