either Darragh Maguire Darragh Maguire (born February 6, 1976 in Dublin) is an Irish football player who currently plays for St. Patrick's Athletic F.C. in the eircom league Premier Division.

Maguire is a central defender and he joined St. Pats from non-league side Glenmore Celtic.
or Barry Ferguson Barry Ferguson MBE (born Hamilton, Scotland, February 2, 1978) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays in midfield. He currently plays for and captains both Scottish Premier League club Rangers and the Scotland national team.  from the Shamrock Rovers team once fit.

The Rovers club captain has been sidelined since breaking his foot last summer but hopes to receive the all clear from his surgeon later this week.

But the 26-year-old centre-back is severely lacking match fitness and knows reclaiming his place will become more and more difficult with each passing week.

Maguire, a close-season signing from St Patrick's Athletic, is regarded as one of the best defenders in the game and is cementing a fine early partnership with Ferguson.

Indeed, the pair's dominant showing at United Park over the weekend set the foundations for Rovers' 1-0 win over champions Drogheda United.

"The squad is much stronger this year so its definitely going to be a challenge getting back into the side," said Price.

"But I'll worry about that when I get fit. I'm not thinking about places in the team just yet, I'm just focused on finally getting right.

"I haven't been able to train with Darragh yet, but even spending time in his company has been a really positive influence on me.

"He's outspoken, has great opinions and makes his points really well. I can only learn from him. "Barry, too, has been superb for us. Both of them have been around the league a lot longer than I have, so I can only learn."

Price snapped his metatarsal metatarsal /meta·tar·sal/ (met?ah-tahr´sal)

playing against Bray last June and has been laid up ever since.

He returned to training in September then suffered a set-back. But he insists his foot feels much stronger now - and is hopeful his surgeon will deliver a positive bulletin.

"I had a scan two weeks ago which showed everything is ok.

"I'm now going back to hospital on Friday, and hopefully the surgeon will say I can start training soon.

"He took out the screw which he initially put in and replaced it with a bigger one.

"It's running parallel with the metatarsal so it is far stronger."

Price - busy cycling and swimming in the gym - is reluctant to put an exact date on his return and insists if he meets with another set-back he will take it on the chin.

"Whatever about me, I'm focused on the players who are out there playing.

"Everyone talks of the big four clubs, but Rovers are capable of being in that group. We showed as much against Drogheda."
