Aid workers killed in Afghanistan.

A gunman killed Afghans employed by Johannesburg-based Action Aid International as they were travelling in northern Afghanistan. The aid organization works with local groups to promote education and healthcare and fight against hunger and poverty. It's mobile health teams in Afghanistan travel to remote villages to treat women.

In recent weeks, international aid agencies have been targets. Two Afghans working for UNICEF were killed when their automobile came under rocket attack. Angry crowds attacked the offices of CARE International and a French humanitarian organization, ACTED.

Anger towards the 23,000 US soldiers and other foreign troops in Afghanistan has been growing over the recent deaths of civilians in traffic accidents and in an air strike targeting Taliban fighters in a southern village.
