From previous experience, when each time we were told more troops would solve the problem , and didn't, there is no logical reason to suppose that further increases would improve the situation now. What we could expect are greater casualties. The situation is becoming ever more complex and less stable, with no-one really knowing what should be done to clear up the 'mess' produced by the initial, badly conceived, invasion in 2001. The proposed Karzai government, backed by the Western powers, is recognised to be basically very corrupt and is not helping to improve the lives of ordinary Afghan people.
