Ahern told: help free Bogota 3.
THE Irish Government was yesterday urged to continue putting pressure on the Colombian authorities to free the three Irish men in prison there.
Sinn Fein Assembly member Caitriona Ruane said they would be meeting Government officials to ensure pressure is being placed on the Colombian President Alvaro Uribe.
Last month Niall Connolly, Martin McCauley and James Monaghan were acquitted of training Marxist Farc rebels but convicted of travelling on false passports to Colombia.
However, the men have been detained while Colombian prosecutors prepare an appeal.
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern raised the case with Mr Uribe at a meeting in Mexico last week.
Miss Ruane, who also heads the Bring Them Back Home Campaign, said: "I met Mr Ahern and Mr Cowen, and asked them to intervene with the authorities."
