POP babe Christina Aguilera has had No1 hits all over the world - but when it comes to her dress sense she's top of the flops.

The singer beat off stiff competition from pop rival Britney Spears to claim the not-so-coveted title of Worst Dressed Celebrity.

One in 10 women voted for Christina as the worst dressed woman in the world in a poll by Prima magazine.

The title was in the bag the moment the Moulin Rouge singer stepped out in a luminous afro and slashed dress, left, at the Blockbuster Awards in Los Angeles.

The 22-year-old singer's catalogue of fashion faux pas includes wearing cowboy-style chaps over tiny knickers, and mis-matched pants with a skimpy top combo and a red bowtie to complete the look.

That outfit was the latest in a long line of disasters for Christina, who despite her dodgy dress sense has managed to get her career back on track in the last year with songs such as Beautiful and Fighter.

Prima editor Maire Fahey said Christina's style was so outrageous that the "average woman in the street couldn't even begin to identify with her".

And Britney, recently voted FHM's second most beautiful woman in the world, was the second worst dressed celebrity according to Prima readers.

The pop princess hasn't had much luck lately. Her US restaurant went bust just months after opening and her first movie Crossroads went belly up at the box offices.

And now her fashion sense has been called into question - especially after she appeared at last year's MTV Video Music Awards in a horrendous leather biker outfit.

Joining the girls in the top three was Madonna, who snogged both Christina and Britney at the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony last week, much to the bemusement of Britney's former boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

The queen of pop, famed for her conical bras and ever-changing styles, narrowly beat glamour model Jordan into fourth place.

And British Prime Minister Tony Blair's wife Cherie, completes the list of fashion disasters.

The good news for Christina, however, is that a previous winner of the worst dressed award topped this year's poll for best dressed celebrities.

Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham was in first place for the second year running and, after a series of fashion disasters in her early days, is now the official the queen of chic.

Maire Fahey congratulated Victoria on "always dressing well and looking fabulous".

She added: "It's good to see her holding on to the top of the best dressed title. She has really settled into her style over the last couple of years and looks great."

Welsh beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones beat off competition from The Hours actress Nicole Kidman to claim second place.

Halle Berry, officially the world's sexiest woman according to FHM magazine, claimed fourth spot in the poll ahead of Liz Hurley in fifth.

The survey also found that although most women wouldn't dare to dress like Christina Aguilera, 40 per cent buy clothes aimed at a much younger age group.

Half the women polled go for the comfortable and casual "EastEnders look", while a quarter go for the glamour of Sex And the City.

The rest try to adopt the Footballers Wives style, going for what they see as smart and chic and what the rest of us see as rather skimpy and tacky.
