Agrium Inc. - Dale W. Massie Appointed Interim Retail Business Unit Head.


CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 1996--Agrium Inc. has named Dale W. Massie, executive vice president, as interim head of the company's North American Retail Strategic Business Unit.

He succeeds Herman T. Wilson Jr. who has left the company to pursue other business interests.

In announcing the appointment, Agrium President and CEO John M. Van Brunt said "During the next few months, Mr. Massie will identify candidates and select a successor to lead this important business unit."

Van Brunt went on to state that "in the short time Mr. Wilson was with us, he utilized his considerable experience in the retail sector to consolidate the company's two retail groups, Crop Production Services and Western Farm Service, into one cohesive unit." Wilson owned Western Farm Service prior to selling it to Agrium in early 1995.

Agrium Inc. is one of North America's largest integrated and diversified fertilizer companies, has been a leader in the industry since 1931.
