Agritek Bio Ingredients Announces Commercial Trial of Levucell SB Commences.CHICAGO--(BW HealthWire)--Aug. 20, 1998--Agritek Bio Ingredients announced today that its phase one commercial trial of Levucell(tm) SB has commenced. The Levucell(tm) SB yeast product has been shown, in research trials, to reduce Salmonella colonization in broiler broiler a young (about 8 weeks old) male or female chicken weighing 3 to 3.5 lb. chickens by up to 99% when added to their feed. The phase one trial, to be completed in October, is being carried out at an independent research facility in Colorado. The trial will consist of 40 pens of 70 broiler chickens per pen, testing four application rates of the Levucell(tm) SB. This trial will provide Agritek with statistically significant information, which will be utilized in phase two of the program. Phase two will be carried out under an agreement with a major US integrated poultry producer. This phase of the program will consist of large-scale trials (approximately 200,000 broilers) in a commercial facility to provide the efficacy data necessary to achieve market penetration.
