VICTORIA, B.C. -- Agresso (www.agresso.com/USA), the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) An integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise. Once again, Agresso won the business in head to head competition against market leaders SAP and Microsoft.

The deal is valued at approximately $428,000 and continues Agresso's advance of ERP software sales against entrenched en·trench   also in·trench

 mid-market. The most recent string of deals (valued up to $3+ million dollars each) show a steady trend of besting SAP, Oracle and Microsoft. These include second quarter 2007 wins to: Landauer, Canadian Commercial Corp., the city of Kelowna and a prominent U.N. agency in North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. , plus dozens more internationally. Vector Aerospace is headquartered in Toronto with offices throughout North America and Europe.

In each case, Agresso's newest services clients outline a series of fast-growth, corporate/public governance and change dynamics that are re-defining ERP requirements for mid-market-sized, people-centric businesses. These business drivers are a marked contrast from the volume-centric, transaction-oriented solutions that drove the giant ERP market leaders' businesses forward in the last decade.

Vector Began its Search with List of 80 Vendors

Vector Aerospace VP Finance George Lawton said the company formed a team of 18 people who initiated a thorough list of some 80 ERP and best of breed providers in total - from niche market A niche market also known as a target market is a focused, targetable portion (subset) of a market sector.

By definition, then, a business that focuses on a niche market is addressing a need for a product or service that is not being addressed by mainstream providers.
 to the billion-dollar giants. The list was carefully narrowed to 12, and then reduced to include Agresso, SAP, Microsoft and Sage. The screening, review, demonstration and decision-making process began in November 2006.

"You can't fault the thorough sales methodology of the ERP leaders; they are very professional and use their substantial resources to court you with continual contact, customized gifts and attractive posters," Lawton said. "But at the end of the day, we're not buying their sales teams - we are buying their products. On that score, the leaders' product demonstrations were weak. The products appear more fixed-transaction based, versus low-cost, change-on-the-fly products like Agresso. We considered our options carefully, and at the end of the day there really is no comparison between Agresso and the rest of the market when it comes to business change."

Lawton defined Vector's requirements similar to other mid-market services organizations selecting Agresso over the leader landscape:

* Growth Requirements: Vector plans to grow to $1 billion within a 5-10 year window and incorporate new business process methodologies and analytics;

* Governance Requirements: As a public company, Vector requires optimal auditing and reporting controls as well as the ability to accommodate changing requirements and organizational structure This article has no lead section.

 easily;

* Data Consistency Data consistency summarizes the validity, accuracy, usability and integrity of related data between applications and across the IT enterprise. This ensures that each user observes a consistent view of the data, including visible changes made by the user's own transactions and  Requirements: Vector's disparate legacy solutions hampered the company's ability to consistently get "one version of the truth," as Lawton puts it.

"I had previous exposure to Agresso from a selection process in 1999 at another company, for which Epicor was selected and I later regretted it. The market has been dominated by transaction-based solutions for many years and the parameters have since changed. Agresso's change-oriented capabilities are much more in keeping with today's need for more analytics.

Agresso North America's President, Shelley Zapp points to Agresso's architecture as the reason why the company continues to gain mindshare and market share against much larger competitors. "At $225 million at year-end 2006 - Agresso is clearly the 'David' to the industry's billion-dollar 'Goliaths'. We aren't as large or as slick in our sales presentations, but it's clear that mid-market companies do not want to default to the old crop of leaders just because they've heard their name in ads. Today's businesses Today's Business is a show on CNBC that aired in the early morning, 5 to 7AM ET timeslot, hosted by Liz Claman and Bob Sellers, and it was replaced by Wake Up Call on Feb 4, 2002.  want Agresso's change-oriented architecture to gain real advantages for people-centric businesses."

Zapp also noted that the multi-billion-dollar ERP leaders are working feverishly fe·ver·ish

"SOA provides improvements - but doesn't get you anywhere near to Agresso's low-cost, change-oriented capabilities.
