Weyerhaeuser is one of the largest pulp and paper companies in the world; the world's largest private owner of softwood timberland; and the second largest owner
 are working on a pre-logging agreement to reduce any conflicts between Natives and forestry forestry, the management of forest lands for wood, water, wildlife, forage, and recreation. Because the major economic importance of the forest lies in wood and wood products, forestry has been chiefly concerned with timber management, especially reforestation,  companies. Talks involving the two parties and the Ministry of Natural Resources concern forestry operations in the band's traditional lands between Wawa and Chapleau. The band hopes for an agreement by year's end, which will spell out employment opportunities for Natives and define areas considered off limits to loggers which are used as hunting grounds, grave sites and places for gathering traditional herbs.
