British Telecommunications plc and Latitude Communications (Nasdaq: LATD) jointly announced a global agreement whereby BT Conferencing will add the MeetingPlace(R) conference server to its conference product line. This represents the first commitment by a global supplier to deliver MeetingPlace as a customer premises based solution for voice and data conferencing. Effective immediately, BT Conferencing will sell, implement, and support MeetingPlace to a worldwide customer base.

MeetingPlace is an enterprise solution for voice and data conferencing that is deployed as a standard part of a corporation's communications infrastructure. First, users access conference functionality through familiar desktop applications such as the corporate intranet, Microsoft Outlook, and Office 2000. Second, the system provides integrated voice and data conferencing for the ability to share and edit documents over the Internet during the voice conference.
