 was battling for survival - and 700 production workers voted for a ten per cent pay cut - its best-known former employee was enjoying himself in style.

Former chief executive Allan Amey was spotted by Hancock in the plush seats in front of the directors' box at the Hawthorns for Albion's Premier League clash against Arsenal.

Allan, below, led a management buyout at LDV until its sale to US-owned Sun Capital just before Christmas 2005.

His verdict on LDV today: "They've been struggling since the Russian market went into decline. I really hope they can survive."

Allan watched his beloved Arsenal win 3-1, but it was not so good a night for Albion fan Stephen Karle, spotted after the match in the Richardson Suite.

Stephen, who left West Bromwich Building Society West Bromwich Building Society is a UK building society, with its headquarters in West Bromwich, in the West Midlands in England. It was the official club sponsor of West Bromwich Albion F.C. for seven seasons from 1997–2004.  as chief executive last October, was cheering on the Baggies. His verdict on the defeat: "The crowd seemed very subdued.

"I've never known them so quiet."
