The company introduced its noise reduction system for tape recording in that same year, which became known as Dolby A and has been widely used in music recording as well as movie theater soundtracks. BAM creates a simple and scalable solution for coding and transcoding Dolby audio formats, as well as leveraging Dolby's loudness technologies. With access to the Dolby DP600 Program Optimizer, GridCoder will also offer broadcasters audio encoding, decoding and transcoding of the entire Dolby family of broadcast audio formats, as well as providing Dolby's latest loudness correction technology for automatically analyzing and correcting loudness variances.

"As the industry continues to move toward a file-based infrastructure, broadcasters are demanding integrated solutions that streamline and automate their workflow, as well as enhancing the viewer experience," said Jeffrey Riedmiller, Senior Broadcast Product Manager, Dolby Laboratories. "Agnostic is taking a leading role by being the first to offer a fully integrated solution that supports the entire suite of Dolby technologies utilized throughout the worldwide broadcast community. By connecting Agnostic's BAM and GridCoder with the Dolby DP600 Program Optimizer, broadcasters will be able to transform content automatically into and from Dolby audio formats including Dolby E, Dolby Digital (AC-3), as well as Dolby's latest technology for next-generation service deployments, Dolby Digital Plus, while also improving the television viewers' experience by eliminating loudness variation between regular programming and commercials."

The BAM application will be integrated into Agnostic's GridCoder, which enables transcoding of video and media files at speeds many times faster than real-time. The Dolby DP600 is the world's first intelligent file-based audio loudness analysis and correction solution that automatically normalizes the loudness of file-based programming and commercials without impacting the original dynamic range.

"Many broadcasters today are faced with providing content in various formats to supply an increasing number of distribution channels and are demanding to have a seamless solution for meeting these requirements," said Jason Turner, President and Chairman, Agnostic Media. "By joining together GridCoder, BAM and Dolby's DP600, we are providing the first turnkey solution to meet the needs of today's broadcasters."

Agnostic and Dolby demonstrated the BAM integrated with the Dolby DP600 Program Optimizer at the National Association of Broadcasters 2006 Conference and Expo, April 22-27 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
