Agnew Tech-II Wins Raytheon Contract.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 19, 2001

Agnew Tech-II, a foreign language services company located in Westlake Village, today announced that defense giant Raytheon has awarded the company a contract to translate a promotional video featuring Raytheon's newest naval anti-missile technology.

This project, one contract in a long relationship between Raytheon and Agnew, requires Agnew's linguistic and technical experts to translate Raytheon's extremely detailed and technically complex material featuring its newest naval anti-missile defense system -- the "Phalanx phalanx, ancient Greek formation of infantry. The soldiers were arrayed in rows (8 or 16), with arms at the ready, making a solid block that could sweep bristling through the more dispersed ranks of the enemy.  Block 0" -- into Mandarin Mandarin (măn`dərĭn) [Port. mandar=to govern, or from Malay mantri=counselor of state], a high official of imperial China. Further, Agnew will use its on-site recording studio and equipment to provide voiceover in each language for the video, which Raytheon will use in its Asian and South American marketing efforts.

The initial stage of the project, in which the video's script will be translated and prepared, demands the utmost care and attention, as it features technical terms and specifications regarding such material as stealth technology stealth technology, designs and materials engineered for the military purpose of avoiding detection by radar or any other electronic system. Stealth, or antidetection, technology is applied to vehicles (e.g.  and guidance systems.

The highly technological content, however, must not obscure the video's purpose: simply showcasing the product. In the second stage of the project, Agnew Tech-II's talent will give the voiceover the appropriate tone.
