Agnew Tech-II Launches Medical Service Provider's Multilingual Web Site.

Business Editors

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 28, 2001

Agnew Tech-II today announced the launch of the Bosley Medical Institute's multilingual WebPages, marking the completion of an intense process of textual translation, cultural localization Customizing software and documentation for a particular country. It includes the translation of menus and messages into the native spoken language as well as changes in the user interface to accommodate different alphabets and culture. Agnew Tech-II responded to the Bosley Institute's need not only for blanket textual conversion, but also for the attention to sensitive cultural aspects of language the lack of which can often make translations confusing -- and sometimes even embarrassing.

Frequently overlooked elements, which must be considered in Web site localization projects, are the calendar convention, date and time formats, number and monetary systems, colors, and browser and search engine selection.

"Translation is not just the act of taking a word from one language and making it correspond to a word from another," said Agnew Tech-II President Irene Agnew. "Translation is the art of endowing the whole content of the target language with the same subtleness, resonance and power of meaning that the original text holds for native speakers.

"We try to apply that philosophy, and the special attention it demands, to each and every one of our projects. The Bosley project, with its technical intricacy in·tri·ca·cy
