 Series test solutions for QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies' RF ASICs, as well as assists QUALCOMM's test suppliers in reducing their cost of test and cost of ownership.

The alliance will also provide on-site test applications experts and faster test program development tools for QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies to improve time to market for RF ASICs. Cost of ownership is lowered by utilizing standard, scalable, test platforms and standard fixturing for both wafer-sort and final device testing.

QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies is the leading developer and supplier of CDMA chipsets, hardware and software solutions, and tools. Products include the Mobile Station Modem (MSM MSM - Micronetics Standard MUMPS ) digital baseband processor, receive (Rx) and transmit (Tx) radio frequency devices, IF/Analog processors and power management devices for CDMA handsets and Cell Site Modem (CSM CSM - ["CSM - A Distributed Programming Language", S. Zhongxiu et al, IEEE Trans Soft Eng SE-13(4):497-500 (Apr 1987)]. ) devices for CDMA infrastructure products. The division supplies chipsets to the world's leading CDMA handset and infrastructure manufacturers with more than 65 million MSM chips shipped worldwide.

&uot;QUALCOMM was seeking a company that could supply a standard test platform to deliver quality RF ASICs, one that could meet our time-to-market and cost-of-test needs,&uot; said Don Schrock, president of QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies. &uot;Agilent's 84000 Series and their past performance indicate their competence to meet those requirements and represent a firm with whom we are confident we can develop a long-term partnership.&uot;

&uot;We are pleased that QUALCOMM has chosen Agilent as their RFIC test partner and sees us as an enabler for their vision for wireless communications,&uot; said John Scruggs, senior vice president and general manager of Agilent's Automated Test Group. &uot;Our scalable 84000 RFIC platform is widely used by both traditional and fabless companies. Our worldwide semiconductor contract manufacturing team is available to assist in meeting their time-to-market objectives.&uot;

Extending the HP Legacy

The Agilent 84000 RFIC Series is keeping pace with emerging market needs, such as 3G wireless, with new signal sources and wider bandwidth measurements. Agilent is building on HP's 60-year legacy of leadership in RF test by providing a wide range of scalable RFIC and MMIC (Monolithic Microwave IC) An integrated circuit used in high-frequency applications such as mobile phones. Also known as "monolithic microwave/millimeter-wave IC," MMICs combine transistors and passive devices (resistors, capacitors, etc.  solutions with 2 to 12 RF ports to meet critical market needs. Agilent's current 84000 Series product portfolio includes solutions for complete transceivers, multifunction RFICs, mixers, switches, power amplifiers and low noise amplifiers (LNAs).
