 series patient monitors.

With this agreement, selected information generated by the Deltex CardioQ monitor will be displayed on the new and existing Agilent patient monitors via an Agilent VueLink module. Availability of this interface is expected later this year.

The CardioQ is a cardiac function monitor that measures blood flow non-invasively. The data provided supports diagnosis of the status and changes in the patient's cardiac performance and whole body fluid volume, providing immediate feedback on the results of therapeutic interventions. More than 65 clinical studies and articles have been published related to Deltex's esophageal Doppler technology. Several outcome studies utilizing Deltex's technology show that use of the monitor can reduce post-operative morbidity morbidity /mor·bid·i·ty/ (mor-bid´it-e)

"Until now, clinicians have had no reliable or easy-to-use non-invasive indicator of their patient's fluid status and cardiac function," said Kemp Coady, group CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "This is especially true for critically ill patients undergoing major surgery, those in the Intensive Care Unit, and trauma patients. The data provided by Deltex's technology bridges that gap in the monitoring armory. We are particularly excited by this new product development agreement with Agilent, as clinicians will now be able to integrate CardioQ data with other physiological data in Agilent bedside monitors, at central stations, and via networked Clinical Information Systems."

"This agreement is consistent with our strategy of interfacing new and innovative measurement technologies into our patient monitoring suite," said Tony Ecock, general manager of Agilent's Patient Monitoring Division. "By providing our customers with the ability to interface best-in-class, third-party products with their existing Agilent patient monitors, the overall cost of product integration is vastly reduced, making access to information across the healthcare delivery system more affordable."
