NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. SFProtect-Mobile offers the same powerful features found in SFProtect -- a configuration security scanner tool that provides vulnerability analysis In information operations, a systematic examination of an information system or product to determine the adequacy of security measures, identify security deficiencies, provide data from which to predict the effectiveness of proposed security measures, and confirm the adequacy of such  of the operating system and its major applications.

Traveling consultants and corporate security mangers with remote networks can quickly assess vulnerabilities on Windows NT 4.0 Server, IIS (Internet Information Services) Microsoft's Web server. IIS runs under the server versions of Windows, adding HTTP server capability to the Windows operating system.  Web Server and SQL Server An earlier relational DBMS from Sybase and from Microsoft. Sybase introduced SQL Server in 1988 for various Unix versions. In that same year, with help from IBM, Sybase created an OS/2 version that Microsoft licensed and branded as Microsoft SQL Server.  and then apply a security policy using SFProtect's unique intelligent technology, known as IntelliFix. The mobile version enables users to scan and fix vulnerabilities in an unlimited number of Windows NT 4.0 servers for an annual fee.

The IntelliFix option available via SFProtect and SFProtect-Mobile allows users to close security holes with one click of the mouse and complete fixes in a fraction of the time required when using other security tools. The SFProtect-Mobile product is the latest expansion of Agilent's portfolio of communications test systems for enterprise and public networks, which includes the original SFProtect, SFCommand and SQL Server 7.0 Database Scanner (see announcements dated Aug. 23 and Oct. 4, 1999).

"Each of our network security products has been designed for a business environment where security is an increasing concern," said Bill Mortimer, general manager of Agilent's Network Systems Test Division. "Theft of proprietary information costs Information costs

millions of dollars. Furthermore, 70 percent of security managers surveyed by the Computer Security Institute reported at least one incident of unauthorized use originating from within their organization. These numbers can not be ignored.

"But we also have designed products with our customers' varied security needs in minds. While the original SFProtect marked a major step forward in network security, many network managers and security consultants travel regularly and/or have networks set up in remote locations. So they can't always address security problems in a timely or easy manner with an installed product. SFProtect-Mobile solves that problem."

Agilent, under the name of Hewlett-Packard, expanded into the security market when it acquired Security Force Software, Inc. (see announcement dated Aug. 2, 1999). Agilent's new security team focuses on developing and delivering products that include system security scanning, security testing Security Testing: (The) Process to determine that an IS (Information System) protects data and maintains functionality as intended.

The six basic security concepts that need to be covered by security testing are: confidentiality, integrity, authentication, authorisation,
, incident investigation, host-based and network-based intrusion detection, and security management.

To audit a server using SFProtect-Mobile, the user simply types the name of the server and then clicks on the audit button. After the audit is completed, the user can view or print a report of the security vulnerabilities found on the target system. The user can then configure SFProtect-Mobile to automatically fix any problems discovered. To use SFProtect-Mobile, users must install Windows NT 4.0 and NT Service Pack 5 on their laptop.

U.S. Pricing and Availability

Pricing for SFProtect-Mobile starts at $9,995 per year for unlimited use. The fix capability can be purchased as an add-on for $4,995 per year for unlimited use. This product is currently available for shipment in the United States and Canada and for download worldwide at www.agilent.com/comms/netsecurity.
