Agilent Technologies Standardizes On Synplicity's FPGA Synthesis Products; Companies Sign Two-Year Software Licensing Agreement.Business Editors/Technology Writers SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 24, 2001 Synplicity, Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors for Internet infrastructure and other electronic devices, today announced that Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A), a leading provider of innovative technologies for communications and life sciences, intends to standardize on Synplicity's FPGA synthesis and ASIC prototyping products during the upcoming year. The companies have signed an agreement giving Agilent access to Synplicity's current products on a pay-per-user model. Through this agreement, Agilent designers can use Synplicity's Synplify(R), Synplify Pro(TM), Amplify(TM) Physical Optimizer(TM) and Certify(TM) products to obtain high quality of results and performance in their test, measurement and monitoring instruments, systems and solutions. "Synplicity is committed to the success of Agilent Technologies' design teams, and we are pleased that our products have the opportunity to become a valuable part of their FPGA and ASIC design flows," said Gary Meyers, vice president of worldwide sales at Synplicity. "We have a long history of delivering fast and easy-to-use products and, as this agreement demonstrates, we can also deliver the flexibility and creativity required by our industry leading customers." Under terms of the two-year agreement, Agilent will pay an annual fee for designers who access Synplicity software. The deal provides Agilent the flexibility to revise its software requirements after the first year, and includes provisions for peak-usage licenses and for access to software for additional users. "Synplicity's flexibility and emphasis on satisfying our special needs -- from training, to support, to licensing agreement structure -- has made our relationship extremely successful," said Patrick Pulis, Agilent Technologies Strategic CAD Vendor Relations Manager. "With their best-in-class synthesis-based products and focus on customer satisfaction and support, Agilent's worldwide commitment to move toward tool standardization on Synplicity's products during the upcoming year is a sound decision."
