Agilent Technologies Inc., Palo Alto, Calif., announces a collaboration with North Carolina State University to facilitate research of rice blast disease, one of the main pathological threats to food supplies worldwide. Agilent has obtained rights to use the gene sequences from NCSU NCSU - North Carolina State University Fungal Genomics Laboratory to develop a gene expression analysis tool for ag researchers. As a result of the collaboration, Agilent will also introduce the industry's first commercial microarray that includes genetic probes from two genomes, specifically rice blast and rice.
