:A) today introduced the industry's first commercial calibration system for Qualcomm Incorporated's (Nasdaq:QCOM QCOM Qualcomm, Inc. (stock symbol) ) gpsOne(TM) hybrid position location system, the world's only all-terrain, high-availability solution for locating mobile E911 phone users.

The Agilent Time Offset Precision Calibration system measures and characterizes a base station's timing delay, enabling more accurate positioning of mobile phone users in high-blockage environments such as indoors or in urban street canyons.

Position location tracking applications for mobile phones -- such as E911 and other emergency location applications, mapping applications, navigation and position-enabled information services See Information Systems.  -- are powered by Qualcomm's revolutionary SnapTrack(TM)-enabled hybrid gpsOne position location technology. The gpsOne solution, the world's first hybrid wireless assisted GPS-based system, uses both Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) ranging information and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. The foremost application of CDMA is the digital cellular phone technology from QUALCOMM that operates in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band. )-based pilot information to provide accurate all-terrain position location capability.

Qualcomm's SnapTrack-enabled gpsOne positioning system leverages Agilent's highly accurate base station timing characterizations to facilitate accurate indoor location of mobile phone users. Precision timing measurements of CDMA base station signal paths allow CDMA pilots to be used for ranging measurements in deep indoor environments. With highly accurate timing measurements (within +/- 25 nanoseconds), Agilent offers service providers the means to precisely characterize the timing of base station pilots, thereby directly contributing to the accuracy of pilot-based ranging measurements and enabling highly accurate indoor position location measurements. Agilent's new Time Offset Precision Calibration system (E6459A) is an enhancement to the 8935 Series Base Station Test Set (E6380A).
