Agilent Technologies Announces Shipment of 1,000th Rapid Resolution Liquid Chromatography System.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Agilent Technologies (NYSE:A) today announced shipment of the 1,000th Agilent 1200 Series Rapid Resolution Liquid Chromatography (RRLC) system. The milestone was reached less than one year after the system was launched.

"This remarkably fast ramp rate is strong proof of customer and marketplace acceptance of our 1200 Rapid Resolution instruments," said Chris van Ingen, president and general manager of Agilent's Life Sciences and Chemical Analysis business. "We are proud to have achieved this landmark shipment in such a short period of time."

High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is a form of column chromatography used frequently in biochemistry and analytical chemistry. Sometimes referred to as high-pressure liquid chromatography, it is used to separate components of a mixture by using a variety of chemical interactions between the substance being analyzed and the chromatography column.

The Agilent 1200 Series RRLC provides up to 20 times faster analysis and 60 percent higher resolution than conventional HPLC. It can process more than 2,000 samples per day.

Customers have the option of running either the RRLC or the traditional LC method, making the 1200 Series RRLC the most flexible LC on the market. Agilent is the market leader in HPLC systems capable of operating in both conventional and high-resolution mode.

High-resolution LC is increasingly being adopted in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, foods, forensics and environmental testing laboratories to speed analyses, increase analytical throughput and optimize chromatographic performance.

More than 110 Agilent ZORBAX Rapid Resolution HT (1.8 um) column choices are now available for the 1200 RRLC system. The introduction of the longer (100 and 150 mm) columns optimizes the resolution of complex samples analyzed on the 1200 RRLC. These new columns offer powerful choices, unmatched in the industry, to maintain the flexibility of the 1200 RRLC. Columns range from 2.1 to 4.6 mm ID in lengths from 20 to 150 mm in 11 bonded phases, including the new high-performance Eclipse Plus line of columns.
