:A) today announced the worldwide availability of its N9310A RF Signal Generator. This instrument provides high performance and superior quality at a lower cost, while significantly reducing the cost of test.

As more consumer electronics devices require sophisticated RF technologies, manufacturers face the challenge of reducing the cost of test and time-to-market without compromising the quality of product design and production. The new Agilent N9310A RF signal generator reinforces Agilent's entry into the low-cost test instruments market and delivers on Agilent's commitment to provide leading-quality and cost-effective products to customers.

The Agilent N9310A RF signal generator covers ranges from 9 kHz to 3 GHz and full range of modulation types, including AM, FM, phase modulation, pulse modulations and an optional IQ modulator Modulator

Any device or circuit by means of which a desired signal is impressed upon a higher-frequency periodic wave known as a carrier. The process is called modulation. The modulator may vary the amplitude, frequency, or phase of the carrier.
. With external IQ source, it can easily generate various types -- even I/Q I/Q Inphase and Quadrature  modulated signals such as GSM, CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. The foremost application of CDMA is the digital cellular phone technology from QUALCOMM that operates in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band.  and OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) A digital transmission technique that uses a large number of carriers spaced apart at slightly different frequencies.  signals as seen in modern digital communications systems. The ease of usability helps to ensure that manufacturers can use the Agilent N9310A more successfully. User-friendly features, such as multiple-language display, 6.5-inch TFT (Thin Film Transistor) The term typically refers to active matrix screens on laptop computers. Active matrix LCD provides a sharper screen display and broader viewing angle than does passive matrix. See LCD and thin film.

connectivity for effortless automated tests and remote control, help to reduce operation time. The N9310A's compact size offers easy installation and maintenance, which can help with overall setup and reduce operation cost.

With versatile functions and capabilities, the N9310A expands Agilent's existing range of RF signal sources products to a broader consumer base. It can be used in high-volume consumer electronic manufacturing, low-cost R&D, service installation and maintenance, and especially in educational teaching labs. Students will be able to focus on RF circuit experimentation and exercises, as the N9310A offers sufficient performance for many basic research projects. The Agilent N9310A was initially launched in July 2006 in the Asia market.

"The Agilent N9310A helps customers significantly reduce the cost of test, allowing them to stay competitive in today's price sensitive markets," said Huo Feng, general manager of Agilent Chengdu Instruments Division. "Customers also have access to Agilent's superior technical support, backed by a global service and calibration network. The launch of N9310A is a milestone for Agilent's low-cost test initiative in the RF segment, and reiterates Agilent's commitment to continue to provide value-added solutions to high-growth electronics manufacturing activities worldwide."
